I feel this post is ever so necessary. To figure out what happened regarding Jared Padelecki, I scoured tumblr. Scoured, searched, googled, quested, EVERYTHING, and I couldn’t find ONE SINGLE POST that had what he actually said.
Nobody else sees the problem with this?
Fan: Supernatural has a very male dominated cast. I was wondering— I wanted to ask what it feels like when you work with female actors, and if it adds, like, a different dynamic to…like, on set? Like if it adds a different dynamic on set.
[Quips from the boys about Jared’s marrying Gen]
Jared: I don’t think it makes it too different. I think it’s easy in a male dominated cast to not have to—. There’s so many shows that deal with romance that there needs to be a show that doesn’t deal with romance. That’s why you have Supernatural, to deal with all the other parts- to deal with the many other facets of human nature and existence, even in a bizarre way. But we don’t have to worry about “Ooh, now there’s a scene where this is…” It just kind of, we can make a show about something else.”
Aisha: Can I totally chip in as a fan? The thing that I told you when you came on my Podcast, and Misha, too. That I feel like what’s great about Supernatural, despite the monsters and everything, is that this is a show about the interior relationships of men and the interior lives of men, and that’s very rare. That those relationships are, you know, they’re emotional, they’re complex, they’re dynamic. And, uh, when you are looking at a show where it’s all about male/female relationships, that’s the focus. But to see these guys that are struggling with their familial relationships and their inner masculine relationships is really unusual in TV, and I think the show does that very, very well. And if you like guys, or you’re curious about men, or you have a guy in your life, it’s a great show to watch to understand…you know, not all men, but these men, these characters who I think are really well written guys…super hot too, but that’s not the point…I mean, I think that’s what’s really, really wonderful about Supernatural.
Jensen: Very well put. Thank you.
I haven’t seen one other copy of this on tumblr so far. That’s a HUGE problem, because it means people are just jumping on a bandwagon and going off only hearsay rather than investigating and thinking for themselves.
Before you hate, investigate.
The question was about how having women on the show changes the dynamics on the set, not about how the guys feel about having female characters in the story.
All Jared said was that he enjoyed working on a show that didn’t deal with romantic story lines. (Which all lines up with what’s he said about not liking the Amelia storyline because it felt out of place.)
There are plenty of fans who have admitted that “If Cas were female Destiel would have happened by now.” All Jared did was point out the same trope.
Jared worked on Gilmore Girls. If the writers and producers want to write in more female characters, I don’t think he’d have that much of a problem working with women (which would be the case if he were actually misogynistic).
And MOST importantly:
The only thing Jared’s guilty of here is not actually answering the question.
And as a bonus, I’m gonna mention that at the end of the panel, Jared and Misha were thanked by two female fans for the Funko dolls they were given by the actors, and Jared immediately stood up and asked if they’d like them signed. When you call him a piece of trash for one comment, that says more about YOU than it does about him, because he goes out of his way for people he doesn’t know and you’re just hating on someone you don’t know.
so one time this asshole was harassing my friend and he gave her a note that said “hey pretty wanna date me? yes: smile no: backflip” and like the fucking badass she is and because she’s a gymnast, she got up and did a fucking backflip in the middle of class
I thought I would update the list of BDSM links and resources I posted a while ago, as some links were no longer working and I had several new ones to add, including a list of books. These should be particularly helpful to those who are new to BDSM and looking to explore D/s relationships, as the best way to go about that is to first read everything you can and then read even more! Not only will this allow you to educate yourself, help keep you safe and avoid any potential mistakes or regrets, but also the more you understand something, the less intimidating it will seem.
If you have anything to add, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will update this list, in particular if there any books that a submissive might find helpful or informative, as most of the books I have read or included are intended for Dominants.
Note: For the sake of consistency and readability, I have used capitals throughout this document and have not used lower case when referring to submissives or slaves.
Babygirls ‘n’ Daddy Doms: Website dedicated to littles, babygirls and Daddy Doms, with a lot of useful information on the subject.
Collarme: A free BDSM dating website and community, that is probably the most popular and a better option than the commercial alternatives.
DS Arts: Academy of DS Arts, fairly self explanatory.
Evil Monk: Ambrosio’s BDSM Website, featuring many useful articles.
Fetlife: An online BDSM community that I would highly recommend and which is perhaps best described as Facebook for the kinky, allowing users to create a profile, publish photos or writing and join interest groups where you can ask questions.
Kink Academy: An online resource with many educational and instructional videos on various aspects of BDSM, although users must pay a small fee to access all of the content.
Submissive Guide: As the name suggests, this is an online resource for submissives.
The Iron Gate: A general BDSM online resource, with many aticles, essays and even stories on the subject.
How do you use lasers to measure fish? I really wanna know how that works. Im curious.
It’s actually much simpler than it seems. We have two lasers that have been calibrated to 4 inches apart and this is true to about 40ft away. We shoot the fish with the laser at a 90 degree angle and this is coupled with video. So when we go back to analyze the videos we can take screen caps of when the lasers are hitting the fish perfectly and using a measuring software take accurate measurements of the fish
On this fish you can see the 2 dots from the laser. With them being 4 inches apart this giant measured to about 9ft in length making it the largest one ever sized
I compiled most of the writing websites I’ve mentioned on my blog into one post. I find a lot of these sites useful, so hopefully they can help you out!
Imagination Prompt Generator: This give you a one-sentence writing prompt that will help you come up with ideas. I think it also allows you to set a ten minute timer for each prompt.
Wridea: I really like this site because you can write down simple ideas that you can organize later and put into a bigger project. You can share these ideas or the site will help you randomly match ideas. It’s great for brainstorming and building a fully formed outline.
List of Unusual Words — Here’s a site you can browse through that gives you a list of unusual words for every letting in the alphabet. If you’re looking to switch up your vocab, or looking to develop a way a character speaks, this is a good reference.
Picometer — Here’s a writing progress meter that can be embedded on your site or blog. There’s also the Writertopia meter that shows word count/current mood.
Cut Up Machine: This website takes whatever words you typed or pasted into the box and rearranges your sentences. It’s not practical for writing a novel, but it might help with poetry OR coming up with ideas. Experiment with it and see what you can come up with.
Orion’s Arm: This is a great website to use if you want to research worldbuilding or if you have science questions. There are tons of resources you can use.
Word Frequency Counter: If you’re finding that you’re using the same words over and over again, this website should help. You’ll be able to count the frequency usage of each word in your text. This should help you switch up the words you’re using and understand where the problem might be.
My Writing Nook: This allows you to write or jot down ideas wherever you are. You don’t need to have your laptop in order to access it, so it might help you during this time. You can write as long as you have your phone.
Writer: The Internet Typewriter - This site lets you write, save, share, and/or convert your writing online. I tried it out and it’s pretty cool. It saves for you and is a great way to brainstorm or plan out some ideas.
The Forge - The Forge is a fantasy, creature, spell, and location name generator. It’s awesome.
One Word: This site gives you one word to write about for 60 seconds. This should help you get started with your own writing and will work as a writing prompt to get you warmed up. It’s a great way to get yourself motivated.
Confusing Words: On this site you can search through confusing words that often stump many writers. It’s not a huge reference, but it should help you with some writing/grammar issues.
Cliché Finder: This site allows you to enter parts of your writing and it will search for clichés. If you find that you’re using the same phrases over and over again, this will help a lot. I haven’t messed around with it too much, but it looks useful.
Hand Written Fonts: If you’re looking for great hand written fonts, this is a great reference. All of them are pretty awesome.
Tip of My Tongue — you know when you’re trying to think of a specific word, but you just can’t remember what it is? This site will help you narrow down your thoughts and find that word you’ve been looking for. It can be extremely frustrating when you have to stop writing because you get a stuck on a word, so this should help cut that down.
Boy!King Sam meeting Lucifer for the first time and watching the fallen angel with awe.
Lucifer gently cradling Sam’s face with one palm and greeting his new partner with a chaste press of lips.
Boy!King Sam and Lucifer taking control of Hell together, showing Sam all that is his to rule.
Lucifer knowing how important Dean and Castiel are to his lover and allowing them to rule Heaven and Earth, angels and humankind, beneath Sam.
Lucifer letting Boy!King Sam drink from him whenever the former hunter wishes, not letting him taint his mouth with that foul demon blood he used to take because his partner deserved only the purest of crimson on his tongue.
