Nutella Ice Cream

Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup sugar, plus 1/4 cup

4 egg yolks

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)

1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, crushed, for garnish

Directions

In a saucepan combine the milk, cream, and 1/2 cup sugar over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a medium bowl whip the egg yolks with the remaining sugar using an electric mixer until the eggs have become thick and pale yellow, about 4 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup of the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture and stir. Add this mixture back into the saucepan. Cook over very low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon, about 7 to 10 minutes.

Place a strainer over a medium bowl and pour the warm custard mixture through the strainer. Stir in the vanilla and hazelnut spread until it dissolves. Chill mixture completely before pouring into an ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions to freeze. To serve, scoop gelato into serving bowls and top with hazelnuts.

COOL MAGIC: though it’s complicated it isn’t once confusing and you can’t beat dual sword-and-bell wielding, bells that can land you into death modeled after the Egyptian afterlife

GREAT CHARACTERS AND DEVELOPMENT: all the characters are forced to carry a duty and some succeed whilst others don’t but that’s okay because being born into a society doesn’t necessarily mean you belong there

GOOD ROMANCE: it’s subtle and forged out of friendship and trust and doesn’t define any of the characters or control any of the events in the story

NEW BOOKS COMING SOON: including Clariel which is a prequel based on Chlorr of the Mask WHO WAS AN ABHORSEN WHO TURNED EVIL!! like how awesome does that sound give me all the downward spirals for female necromancers AND there’s apparently going to be a sequel to the series too!!

POSSIBLE FILM IN THE MAKING: which means if you wanna get on that fandom first get on it now

IT’S JUST REALLY GREAT?? despite it being marketed as a YA book it’s still riveting and mature enough for older audiences (I think I might appreciate it more now that I’m older tbh) just UNF

I guess I accidentally wrote a follow up for What Exactly is Human? because this is a seriously interesting issue and I don’t think I can get enough of it. Oh Danny, you poor little baby, I want to give you a hug.

No More Lies
Characters: Maddie Fenton, Danny Fenton, Guys in White
Summary: They used to share everything, and now the only thing she gets from him is lies.

“Danny, do you have a moment?” Maddie asked, looking up as she heard her son head down the stairs. He flinched when she noticed him, and winced a little when she frowned, knowing that he had been caught.

“Sorry mom, I was about to head over to Sam’s house.” Danny said, and she already knew that for a lie. Almost everything that came out of her son’s mouth these days was a lie. Where he was, what he was doing, who he was with… it was like he had become something of an alien to her, a stranger that she didn’t know, one that just happened to look like her son.

And they used to be so close.

“Oh, I see.” Maddie said, frowning a little, before shaking her head, standing up, her eyes firm. “No, actually, you’re going to wait a few minutes Danny. I really do need to talk to you, young man. I’m still not entirely convinced you’re okay.” She told him, noticing her son wince again when she said that. It had been about five days ago now, that her son had gone missing for a three day period, only to be brought back home by Jazz.

Sam had claimed that he had been taken by ghosts, but Maddie was skeptical. At the very least, aside from appearing as if he lacked sleep and being a little hungry, her son seemed alright, sound and whole.

Well, almost, she thought her eyes drifting towards her son’s left hand, which he had been wearing a glove over ever since he got back home. He didn’t say anything about it, nothing to draw her attention to it, but the lengths he took to keep it out of sight was noticeable to her. She wasn’t exactly an idiot, she knew something was going on with her son, and she was going to find out what it was.
